The teachings of the Bahá'í Faith inspire and guide our curriculum, daily schedule and schools atmosphere. Our programs give participants the opportunity to apply spiritual teachings in their daily lives and to learn about themselves and others in an atmosphere of friendship and cooperation. We strive to be sensitive to and inclusive of all world faiths. R.O.B.S.I. has been providing children's school programs for 38 years!

2024 Theme

Again this year, the Junior and Senior programs will run in the same week. We have two School Directors overseeing different programs that are geared to meet the specific needs and interests of the two age groups. Students will enjoy a closely-knit community while spending a week at Providence Point Bahá'í Centre of Learning in Lanark, Ontario. Each group of seven to ten participants will be lead by two trained counsellors. The students sleep in rustic cabins, attend classes and share delicious meals in the dining hall. They will forge close bonds while enjoying swimming, nature hikes, arts and crafts, music and drama activities. Junior and Senior students will enjoy canoeing and swimming on-site.

Date: June 30 until July 6, 2024

This school is run in conjunction with the Junior/Senior School, allowing the Counsellors in Training maximum opportunity to interact with children. Participants can look forward to taking on new levels of responsibility including organizing some activities for the participants and participating with the rest of the school in sports, skits, campfires and so on. Part of the day will be spent in classes studying the role of the counsellor, spiritual development, child development, safety and communication skills. Team building exercises, discussion and role playing are integral parts of the program. There will also be opportunities to practice canoeing skills.

Murphy's Point Canoe School takes place in the group campsite area at Murphy’s Point Provincial Park. This spacious, secluded location and private lake provides the perfect environment to build a strong school community through swimming, canoeing, cooking, music, prayer and study.

This program offers many opportunities for this small group of eight to twelve campers to work both independently and as a group in the everyday tasks of living out-of-doors. Participants will gain tenting, canoeing, portaging, and hiking skills. The attendees will participate in daily classes and study the Bahá'í Writings.

Clothing and General Kit List

ROBSI could not run every year without our creative, caring, and dedicated staff made up entirely of volunteers. Every year we need volunteers to serve in the following positions: counsellor, canoe staff, school director, kitchen staff, teacher, lifeguard and healthcare officer. If you love working with children and youth, learning new things and working cooperatively with others, then volunteering at ROBSI may be for you! Hours spent volunteering with ROBSI can be counted towards High School Volunteer Hours.
